Raise Awareness
- Participate in our 4-Week BPD Awareness Challenge – One Action. Once a Week. Big Impact. 🧡 Join us every Wednesday in May for BPD Awareness Month. Together, we can break stigma, build understanding, and make waves for mental health!
- Week 1 – May 7 | Connect: Invite someone to join you at the Sashbear Walk for BPD.
- Week 2 – May 14 | Educate: Attend our expert ed presentation on Radical Acceptance with Gillian Galen, PsyD.
- Week 3 – May 21 | Listen: to a BPD podcast and share one thing you learned.
- Week 4 – May 28 | Advocate: Wear orange and share a message of hope. Snap a pic and tag @SashbearOrg so we can share your impact!
- Other Social Media Campaigns – Share facts, myths vs. truths, lived experience stories, and supportive messages using hashtags like: #BPD #BPDawareness #Sashbear #EndTheStigma #MentalHealthMatters #SashbearWalk #MakeWaves. Focus on Mental Health & Connection
- Self-Care Challenge – Promote daily acts of kindness and mindfulness.
- Support Groups – Attend or help organize a BPD or family support group.
- Listen & Share – Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is create time and space for someone to be heard and validated.
Educate
- Host a Presentation/Workshop – Invite Sashbear, clinicians, advocates, or people with lived experience to speak at your workplace, school, community centre or church.
- Share Resources – Post reputable articles, videos, and info from organizations like The Sashbear Foundation, NEABPD, CAMH or CMHA. Understanding BPD is the first step toward breaking the stigma and building a world where those who live with it feel seen, supported, and truly understood.
- Register for Sashbear’s Free Programs:
Advocate & Express
- Write an Op-Ed or Blog Post – Share your perspective or lived experience.
- Contact Local Leaders – Encourage city councils and schools to recognize BPD Awareness Month.
- Art, Music, or Poetry – Use creative outlets to tell stories and express emotions related to BPD.
Get Involved
- Volunteer – Support organizations that focus on BPD or mental health.
- Participate in the Sashbear Walk – Join your local Sashbear Walk – a powerful community event where every step helps raise awareness and break the stigma around BPD
- Since 2013, the Sashbear Walk has brought together families, friends, individuals with lived experience, mental health professionals, and allies to create a sea of orange in communities across Canada.
- In 2025, Sashbear Walks are happening in 10 cities across Canada, offering communities a chance to come together, show support, and create meaningful change. Whether you’re walking for yourself, someone you care about, or to stand up for those living with BPD—your presence helps break stigma and build understanding!
- Fundraise – Organize a donation drive or online campaign to help Sashbear expand their mental health and suicide prevention programs
- Attend one of the landmark lightings for BPD. This May, landmarks across the country will shine bright in support of BPD Awareness Month to raise awareness, foster community support, and help break the stigma surrounding BPD. Join us in this important initiative by visiting a landmark near you.
