“I am non-binary and bisexual and I have experienced CPTSD based on severe childhood trauma. Before participating in The Sashbear Foundation’s mental health program, my family struggled with being able to understand one another’s points of view and being able to communicate in effective ways. Thanks to Sashbear, my family now has the skills to communicate effectively with me which has helped me feel secure and supported.” – A.D.
You are not alone
Are you supporting a loved one with substance use disorder or does your youth identify as 2SLGBTQI+?
The Sashbear Foundation seeks to address and prevent discrimination and stigma based on mental health, sexual orientation, sex characteristics, gender identity and expression.
Sashbear offers education materials/learning opportunities to increase family understanding of substance use and 2SLGBTQI+ issues, needs and challenges.
One of our guiding program principles is peer leadership (i.e. parents who have “been there”). We provide support for the entire family to support a strong ecosystem around a youth/individual dealing with any/all types of mental health issues.
Sashbear’s mental health programs are free, accessible, nation-wide, virtual and in-person. We provide a safe, inclusive environment for vulnerable families to learn new skills.
